About Physioneeds Heanor
Established in 1982, PhysioNeeds is an expanding group of physiotherapy practices, that now boasts 6 clinics based in the Nottingham, Rushcliffe and Heanor area.
Having recently acquired the Heanor Practice from Ellen Smith, a long standing physiotherapist in Heanor, we endeavour to provide a high quality NHS and private physiotherapy service within a comfortable, confidential and friendly environment.
We only employ chartered physiotherapists, and we ensure we meet both The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and The Health and Care Professions Council’s (HCPC) standards.
All of our staff are dedicated to maintaining their continued professional development to maximise results for our patients.
Meet the team
First of all I’d like to tell you a little about me. I have lived in Nottingham all my life apart from when I went to study BSc Hons in Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University, coming out with a first class honours degree. In my spare time I enjoy walking my Great Dane, running and cycling.
I have a wide range of clinical experience with both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. I have built this up over the years of working in several busy private clinics around Nottingham where I worked closely with athletes and sports personalities.
Using a range of techniques to ensure a quick and effective recovery, I am able to treat with a wide range of sporting, domestic and work related injuries. This may include foot and ankle pain; neck strains or returning to elite level sport or simply work.”
In addition to all this, as a fully qualified Acupuncturist, I am also able to offer this as a treatment option here at PhysioNeeds Heanor.
Son of a local GP and Pharmacist I have always had a keen interest in healthcare. I believe in hard work and personal service and take pride in working with patients; helping them to achieve their goals.
Having always lived in Derby, I made the most of my University days by visiting both the South and East coasts. I graduated from Southampton University in Biomedical Science (BSc Hons) and followed this with a Masters degree in Physiotherapy at Colchester University.
I am a keen sportsman and my passion has always been Sailing. This involves racing dinghies at my local club Staunton Harold and other venues across the UK and the World, competing in events where I would regularly represent Great Britain. I enjoy other sports, such as Skiing, Golf and Downhill biking.
Working closely with the rest of the PhysioNeeds team across our branches, I am always looking to expand and develop my professional abilities and scope of practice.
As a keen football player I had found myself having frequent Physiotherapy which had me interacting with fantastic MSK Physiotherapists on a regular basis. Much more recently, I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy and have developed a passion to work in the musculoskeletal environment.
I have found the diverse and fascinating nature of musculoskeletal conditions make this field of Physiotherapy more of a hobby than a true occupation for me, with a new puzzle to solve with every individual. My drive to develop and achieve successful outcomes with patients has never been stronger.
Outside of work, listening to music is a real passion of mine and I am an avid singer, having previously sung to a grade 8 level. I regularly play football and attend the gym where I enjoy generating new exercise ideas that I can pass onto my patients.
